Dermatology Nurse Practitioner
Location: Martinsville, VA
Position Type: Full-Time (4 days/week) or Part-Time (2-3 days/week)
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Dermatology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our collaborative and patient-focused practice in Martinsville, VA. Key Responsibilities
The Dermatology Nurse Practitioner will play a crucial role in providing high-quality, comprehensive dermatological care to our patients. Responsibilities include:
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Independently treat, diagnose, and manage a wide range of common acute and chronic dermatology-related conditions, including but not limited to acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, and benign skin lesions.
- Skin Cancer Screening: Perform routine full-body skin examinations and screenings for skin cancer.
- Procedures: Perform minor surgical procedures such as biopsies (shave, punch, and excisional) and cryotherapy.
- Patient Education: Provide comprehensive patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medication usage, and preventative skin care practices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed medical records in compliance with all practice policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with Primary Care Providers (PCPs) and other Specialist providers within the practice to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.
- Medication Management: Prescribe appropriate topical, oral, and injectable medications.
- Referrals: Appropriately refer patients to dermatologists, surgeons, or other specialists when advanced treatment is required.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must be a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner as either a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP).
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a dedicated Dermatology clinical setting is required.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Virginia (VA) or the willingness to immediately obtain one.
- Skills: Demonstrated expertise in dermatological assessment, diagnostic procedures, and minor in-office procedures.
- Attributes: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
