Job Description:
Value-Based Care and Practice Management Education for PGY-2 Residents.
Program Goal: Develop primary care attendings that are confident in value-based care and effective practice management.
Physician Resident Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled in a US family medicine or internal medicine program.
- Must agree to actively participate in Privia's value-based care curriculum through both virtual and in-person meetings.
- Must be starting the second half of their PGY-2 year.
Objective 1: Learn value-based care basics during weekly virtual sessions from various Privia physicians and non-physician leaders in operations, population health, payer contracting, and implementation.
Resident will:
- Check-in with a supervising physician monthly.
- Attend weekly virtual meetings and discussion groups with various physician and non-physician leaders.
- Attend local Privia Health Physician Organized Delivery meetings (live or virtually) when possible.
- Participate in Privia University value-based care trainings focusing on Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) Coding, Total Cost of Care, and Quality.
- Focus on transitional care management, remote patient monitoring, and chronic care management while leveraging mental health resources.
- Review electronic medical record (EMR) documentation and use clinical and value-based care knowledge to improve documentation.
Objective 2: Gain exposure to practice management to understand the non-clinical demands of the practice.
Resident will:
- Meet with the practice CEO to learn practice finances, billing, accounts receivable, payer structures, and human resource needs to better understand the business of the Care Center.
Summary of Payment & Course Stages:
Stage 1: Introduction to Value-Based Care (PGY-2) January
Payment to Resident:
$500/month for 6 months
Purpose: Monthly stipend for initial engagement
Monthly Time Requirements: 4-6 hours per month in a hybrid capacity
Stage 2: Integration of Value-Based Care in Medical Practice (PGY-3)* July
Payment to Resident:
$1000/month for up to 12 months
Purpose: Increased monthly stipend for increased meetings and learning focusing on Care Center-specific information
Monthly Time Requirements: 4-6 hours per month in a hybrid capacity
May be offered a contract with a Privia practice, with the potential for a sign-on bonus determined by that Care Center.**
* At the six-month mark of Stage 2 phase, participants may be offered the opportunity to sign a letter of intent to proceed with the final six months of the program.
** Sign-on bonus amount varies depending on the market. Length of employment thresholds apply.
